Game: (1st) In Florida for Spring Training, the Statesmen face off against the Chicago Ghosts. Someone has placed a cult sticker on the dugout, but nobody notices it. The Ghosts' catcher, Pena, Umpire William Smith and Kendricks have a lively conversation. The pitcher, Mulaney, gets Kendricks out, but he says he'll be back. (2nd) Grady Duhart pitches well, but Kendricks makes an error and the Ghosts go up 2-0. Whaley makes it clear that he wouldn't have made the same error. (4th) Kendricks adjusts and gets a hit off of Mulaney to tie the game at 2. (5th) Kendricks makes another error, allowing the Ghosts to go up 3-2. (7th) Mulaney intentionally walks Kendricks. Kendricks falls for the hidden ball trick and is out. Gray is about out of patience with Kendricks. (9th) Froman pitches for Chicago now, with a lead of 6-3. Bishop gets upset and tries to rally the team. Two runners get on and Kendricks hits a home run to tie the game. Pitts and Speck show respect for Kendricks. Bishop hits a bloop single to drive in Chester for the winning run.

Bishop does an ad for his family's Savoy Farms sausage.

Inesta Morgan and Major Sumrell host Sports Central. The Sports Central Crawl reveals: Julie Croteau is missing in Arizona. President Stedman Winfrey signs the Sokovia Accords. This world is different, with Bill Walton being a pitcher, Galaxy Wars being a big movie series, Serena Williams being a country music star, Cy Young serving as Secretary of the Interior, Gilgamesh being a big TV show and WolfTV being a popular network.

Inesta and Major report on the Statesmen, the surprise of Spring Training after a 7-1 start. The two anchors trade jokes that make each other laugh. Off-screen, Inesta and Major flirt a bit.

Jeffrey Brack reports on a new craze with the kids, Hippy Poppers.

In the locker room, players make fun of Bishop for his innocence and naivety. They make fun of Jones for his age. Kendricks defends him as the guy who won the game. Whaley blames Kendricks for the team's woes, but Kendricks stands up to him. Whaley makes fun of Bishop and Kendricks steps to him. Glover breaks them up before it gets worse.

Captain Alex Levin leads the PDDC briefing on the largest single-incident mass murder in the area in 20 years. Levin is committed to catching the perpetrators. She makes it clear that this is an all-hands-on-deck situation. Officer Cody Paige opens her briefing book to find it empty. Levin pulls Cody aside. Levin and her secretary, Rita Thompson, make fun of Cody as they give her an assignment to bring in Detective Brice Eversmith to work on the case. Levin belittles Eversmith for both her expertise and the fact that she is a transgender woman. Levin makes it clear she has no respect for Cody OR Eversmith.

Shirley procrastinates rather than write about baseball. Chad tries to get her on task, but she's focused on the murder scene they snuck onto. He's trying to forget it, but she wants to investigate. Shirley calls Cody to ask questions, but Cody tells her to make an appointment.

Cody calls Eversmith, who is very rude and refuses to work with her at first. Then Cody reveals that she's working on a new mass murder and Eversmith is intrigued. Cody yells at Eversmith to get her attention and succeeds. Eversmith says they can meet at the Pinch.

Shirley drives by the baseball stadium to do some reporting, but the team is in Puerto Rico for an exhibition game. She calls Conan and he suggests she actually watch some games if she wants to learn.

Game: The Statesmen play an exhibition game against the Puerto Rico Coquis. Revolutionary fervor is notable in the stadium. (5th) Jones pitches, but struggles. Gray has a habit of pacing when he's stressed out. Gray complains that Huebner and Howell aren't properly getting ready for the season. Bishop is shocked by coaches having open conflict in the dugout. (9th) The Statesmen have closed the gap to 7-5. Cloud started today, but went 0-4 with three strikeouts. Whaley is benched for Gay and gets publicly angry about it. Gay drives in 3 runs to lead the Statesmen to a comeback win. Jones is friends with a Puerto Rican umpire. A Puerto Rico pitcher, Luis Narvaez, tells Jones that he was inspired by Jones to become a pitcher and he's now made it to the USBL.

At a post-game press conference Alligood asks Jones why he came out of retirement and he really wants the championship. McDaris rattles Gray about playing a game in Puerto Rico during a time of revolution. Gray says that optimism about the team is legit.

Gray has a private meeting with Whaley and asks him if he is committed to the team or if he wants to be released. Whaley says he wants to stay.

In the locker room, Huebner tries to keep the team calm, while Gray tells them to cut loose. The players party in the locker room. Whaley challenges Kendricks, who is quite cocky. Whaley thinks Kendricks' hasn't earned it. Bishop and Jones calm the mood.

Michael Weisman hosts the Sunday Sports Chat Show with guests: David Tessell, Sharon Alligood, Ricky Womble and Jonnie Travis. Topics include: Savoy Bishop's sausage commercial. Will Kendricks make the team? Are the Statesmen for real?

Bishop watches Sunday Sports Chat Show and gets upset that they're making fun of him. The panel ridicules Alligood's opinions. Alligood reveals that Kendricks broke the record for fastest thrown pitch ever and went 3-0 in Spring Training with one save. He also hit .593 with 37 RBIs. The Statesmen go 27-5 in Spring Training, a record for the team. The Chat Show guests all disagree with Alligood and think Kendricks and the Statesmen are a fluke.

Jamelle Lewis waits in Leah Owens' office and notices that Owens removed a photo of Augustus and Lewis. After making Lewis wait, Owens finally arrives. Owens tries to get Lewis to quit, but she refuses. Lewis suspects that Owens can't fire her. Their conversation gets contentious and insulting. Owens has security guards Mackey and Solly remove Lewis from her office. Lewis vows revenge. Owens gets contact information for private investigator Applegate from Mackey, his cousin.

Shirley arrives at the Pinch and gets a drink. Brice Eversmith waits for Cody Paige. Once Cody arrives, they get to know each other and Eversmith realizes that other cops dislike Cody, so she agrees to work with her. Eversmith leaves and Shirley tries to meet with Cody. Once Cody realizes who she is, she gets upset and sends Shirley away.

Gray and the coaching staff meet to decide on the final regular season roster. They decide to keep Kendricks. Howell says that Whaley dated his daughter and he's some kind of weirdo. Gray offers to dump him, but Howell says not to. A montage shows the players who made the final roster. In the locker room, the players learn who makes the team and who doesn't.

Jones and Bishop do an after hours workout and bond as they learn about each others' pasts.

Lewis meets with human resources director David Levy. Lewis learns that Owens can't fire anyone on the team. In his will, Augustus prevented this from happening.

Conan Jones throws a big annual party at his wealthy mansion. Bishop, Brito and Parker arrive at the party with Bishop, who hasn't been invited to the party in the past. The party gets insane. Bishop starts getting drunk. Whaley is already drunk. Chester, Speck and Shotwell do cocaine. Pasco and Gay are freaked out. Jones refuses coke, even though he used to partake. A random party-goer is a Cult Member. Pasco and Gay go home early. Whaley complains about Kendricks, but Speck isn't interested and leaves him behind. Speck takes Bishop to party with Chester, Parker and Shotwell in a private room. Among the others in the room is Betty Billups. Bishop turns down coke, but looks less nerdy when he drinks a bunch. Betty does coke, but Bishop is into her anyway. Kendricks arrives at the party and Whaley approaches him to start a fight. He's too drunk, though, and they put him in a cab. Kendricks insults him. Bishop passes out on the couch.

The morning after the party, Kendricks, Chester, Shotwell and Speck are still up and are going to get breakfast. A Cult Member approaches them saying some weird things. Kendricks turns and runs. Once he calms down, he makes his way to the diner they were headed to. His teammates are waiting for him and make fun of him for running.
