Millie sits inside a standard police interrogation room. She's a fast food manager.
Across from her are two plain-clothed police officers Diaz and Santiago.
Diaz asks her to state her name for the record.
Millie asks if this is being recorded
Santiago says it is. Millie is suspicious.
Diaz and Santiago exchange a concerned look. Diaz reiterates the request.
Millie hesitates, but says her last name is Johnson.
Diaz asks her to confirm she's the manager at Burger World on Pecot St. working tonight’s closing shift? She confirms she is. But she's not sure she's going back.
Santiago asks her to walk them through what happened?
Millie asks if she's in trouble.
Diaz says they need to know what happened and she's the only person alive who knows.
Millie still doesn’t trust them.
Millis telling them what happened. The night began as a normal full moon evening.
Millie works with Jeff, WM, teens; Taz, WF, early 20s; and LaKeith, BM, early 20s. Millie counts a register drawer at her desk in a small manager’s office. Millie finishes counting the cash drawer then puts it in the safe and locks it away. She walks to the front of the store.
She tells them that someone needs to take out the trash. Taz and Jeff wriggle out of it so LaKeith has to do it. He reluctantly gathers four full trash bags and carries them outside. He looks back and sees Jeff smirking at him. He goes outside.
Behind his back, Jeff calls LaKeith lazy. Raz joingly tells him to shut up.
LaKeith walks behind the store to the wooden enclosure. He drops the four bags on the ground and sighs, He opens up the fence and lifts the lid to the dumpster. He tosses the bags of trash in. Once he’s done, he shuts the gate and leans against it. He pulls out a cigarette and lights up.
He sees something in the dark, at the edge of the parking lot. He eyes it warily. He flicks the cigarette away. He never takes his eyes off the thing. He starts edging towards the door of the restaurant. The thing growls at him. He tries to calm it. The thing moves closer. It moves closer. It growls again. The beast runs at him. LaKeith screams.
Millie walks to the front of the store and looks around. She asks about LaKeith, but no one has seen him.
LaKeith staggers into the store. They notice that LaKeith drips blood from his hand. Millie asks him what happened. He says he got bitten by a big dog. Millie tells him to get cleaned up.
Jeff asks if LaKeith should go home. LaKeith says he can't, he needs the money. LaKeith stumbles in the back to get cleaned up.
The restaurant has gotten a little rush. There are multiple customers inside and several cars in the drive-thru. LaKeith is notably still absent. Millie is working the drive thru. Jeff is at the front register. Taz is working the line, making the burgers. Millie reaches up to get a cup on the drive-thru drink machine, but it’s empty. She goes to the front drink machine, but it’s out, too.
She tells Jeff to go in the back and grab some large cups. And she tells him to check on LaKeith as well. Millie walks back to the drive-thru. Jeff clicks his mouth in disappointment and walks towards the back. He bangs the door as he goes into the back. Millie keeps serving the drive-thru. Taz keeps making food. Neither Jeff nor LaKeith return.
Taz finishes her last burger and the rush is over. She looks around and only sees Millie, who has just served her last drive-thru customer. Millie leaves the drive-thru and approaches Taz. She tells Taz to go in the back and check on LaKeith and Jeff, and bring back large cups.
Taz walks into the back. Millie jumps on the front register and serves an inside customer. Taz doesn’t come back and neither do the boys.
Millie is taking and making orders. She finishes wrapping a burger and puts it on a tray. She adds fries and hands it to a customer. The customer asked for a large Coke, but there still aren't any cups. Millie locks the register then makes her way to the back.
Millie bursts through the door to the back, revealing a scene of total carnage. Taz has been eviscerated and her blood covers the floor. Jeff has been dismembered and his bloody remains are spread throughout the room. It takes everything for Millie not to scream.
She takes a few steps into the room and comes face-to-face with what used to be LaKeith. It still wears the tatters of his uniform and his nametag. His body is covered in blood and has transformed.
Back in the police interrogation room, Diaz and Santiago exchange a look of disbelief.
Millie says she wishes it was a werewolf, but it was worse.
Back at Burger World, the monster is face-to-face with Millie. She shakes with fear. She looks at what used to be LaKeith. He’s larger, lumpier. He has a lot of patchy fur mixed with leathery-looking patches of bare skin. It has claws on each finger that are at least several inches in length. It has a mouth filled with bloody, razor sharp teeth. It has large, brown, leathery wings growing from it’s back.
It growls at her and moves closer. Close enough to touch her. She calls his name. There’s a moment of recognition in the beast’s eye.
Back in the police interrogation room, Diaz turns to Millie. He asks what happened next. Millie said the LaKeith monster left. Santiago is skeptical, but Millie reassures her. She said it flew past her, into the lobby. It scared all the customers, then it crashed through the front window and flew off into the night. Diaz is skeptical.
They let Millie go, but tell her not to leave town. Millie Looks at her, shocked. Santiago says it's in case they have any more questions.
Millie walks out of the interrogation room. Diaz watches her go with suspicion.
